This is the pack I blogged about here: https://exposingthebiggame.wordpress.com/2012/09/08/leave-wolves-the-hell-alone/
“Mike Hudak’s Western Turf Wars—the book you need to understand how governmental mismanagement of ranching is destroying America’s public lands with your tax dollars.”
It didn’t take Washington WDFW long to act like every other state fish and game agency, where wolves call home. They’re targeting the entire Wedge Pack of 8-11 wolves, including the pups, for death, over a few cow losses, cows that are grazing on THE AMERICAN PEOPLE’S PUBLIC LAND!!
Here’s a message to subsidized, welfare ranchers. GET YOUR FRIGGIN COWS OFF OUR PUBLIC LAND! You are the problem, not the wolves. If you don’t like wolves, then round-up your cows and put them in a secure enclosure ON YOUR LAND with an electric fence. fladry, range riders and whatever else you have to do to protect your investment. It’s not the American people’s job to subsidize your poor animal husbandry practices.

YEP!!!
My thoughts actually to the one above!!!!!!! I hate people sometimes!!!
Agreed, Maureen.
I rarely cry, but feel on the verge. This is an outrage. And what…all we can do is send a letter or make a phone call? It just doesn’t seem like enough.
Gail, I’m Canadian. I can’t even do that, because they wouldn’t care about what a non-U.S. citizen has to say.
Just saw this this: AN EYE FOR AN EYE ON THE WEDGE … there are a couple of comments. Among them, “They (WS) recently received helicopters (Kiowa’s) with varies parts from another government agency Homeland Security. Its my understanding that they are being retrofitted to become gunship platforms. ” http://wolvesandwriting.com/2012/09/22/an-eye-for-an-eye-on-the-wedge/
Helicopters? WTF??!! Thanks for sharing this, Gail.
Yes, Jim. That info was in the “comments” section…from someone who seemed quite knowledgeable. I think the term “gunship platforms” was what pushed me over the edge. To think of those WS “hunters” and their lethal technology….and the innocent wolves….who have no idea what’s coming.
The people on that blog seem to have personal involvement with opposition in Washington … to some extent, anyway. I dedeuced that from their comments and who they’ve been talking with and getting their information from.
The state game department will spare no expense in the eradication of this endangered species (wolves are still endangered here).
So much for progressive Washington. Ranchers rule and wolves are disposable. They make it so easy to kill the entire pack. Their trick is to collar one or both of the alphas. The Wedge Pack’s alpha male is collared. Since wolves are devoted to family it makes it easy to find them, like shooting fish in a barrel. In other states pups have been collared for the same end. The Wedge Pack never had a chance against this pogrom.
I’m stunned Conservation Northwest sided with WDFW and believes the pack should be removed.. Don’t they have this backwards, shouldn’t non-native cattle be removed from our public land and native wolves roam free?
Montana and Idaho kill entire packs of wolves every year, so many in fact most people will never know they even existed. I created a memorial to them years ago, which I haven’t updated in quite a while but you can glimpse the terrible toll Wildlife Services takes on wolves, this is separate from the brutal hunting season in those states. Montana and Idaho are hell holes for wolves.

There is one pack I’d like to mention who died for Montana Agribusiness near Kalispell in 2008, The Hog Heaven Pack, (27 members strong, 2 breeding females and fifteen pups) all gunned down for a few supposed depredations. That’s the evil we’re dealing with.
This is unbelievable. Thank you for keeping track of the wolf losses for as long as you did–how depressing! Let’s hope the Wedge pack heads to Canada before making the list…
