Way to go HSUS and Fund for Animals!
The Humane Society of the United States and The Fund for Animals have announced they intend to sue the USFWS over the delisting of gray wolves in the Great Lakes region, with the goal of seeing Endangered Species Protections restored for the beleaguered animals. This was very welcome news as the Wisconsin wolf hunt opened Monday.
Wolves in the Northern Rockies and now the Great Lakes Region have been handed over to brutal state management. They are suffering the tortures of the damned as they are trapped, shot, hunted with bow, snared and in Wyoming treated like vermin in over 80% of the state, where they can be killed by any means, 365 days of the year.Β Wisconsin wants to chase them to their deaths with up to six dogs per hunter.Β A legal challenge stopped that horror for now but a hearing is scheduled in December to re-visit theβ¦

So good to see this. Criticism abounds against the HSUS, mostly due to the fact that they “don’t run a shelter”. People seem to buy the misconception that “humane society” automatically infers a physical shelter situation, when, more often than not, the term “society” applies to “an organized group with common interests”. Anyone familiar with them knows there is much they do for animals, especially in the area of litigation. While not perfect, they are among the best we have and I will continue to support them. I’m very pleased to see them branching out even further to wildlife.
“They” will lose.
