  1. Well, these aren’t all hunting accidents, but they sure give proof to the old saw “Guns don’t shoot people; accidents shoot people.”

One of the accidents led me to the Kewaunee County’s Sheriff Department’s page that had the following two posts. On 11/22/13:

Good luck to all the deer hunters heading out this Opening Morning 2013.
Remember the 4 golden rules when handling your firearm. (TABK)
T – Treat every firearm as if it was loaded.
A – Always point muzzle in safe direction.
B – Be sure of your target and what is beyond.
K – Keep your finger away from the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
    Stay Safe!

Then, the following day, 11/23/13, we read this post:

    *** Press Release ***
    Hunting Accident
    Saturday, November 23, 2013

(Kewaunee, WI) On November 23rd at approx. 9:44 A.M. the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of a subject with an accidental self inflicted gunshot injury.

The incident occurred on private property in the Township of Franklin. Units from the Department of Natural Resources, Brown County Rescue, and Franklin First Responders also responded. The subject, a 41 year old male subject from Denmark, was removed from the incident location by an all terrain vehicle and treated prior to being transported to a Green Bay medical facility with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries to the lower leg.

The incident remains under investigation by the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department along with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

  2. Don’t want to sound rude on that but, the more hunting accidents, the better. I hope people will start looking at hunting as a “deadly practice” on both sides, hunters and animals, and start giving up their so-called “sport”!
