Far away from the manger
thorn crown ‘round his head
the man they call Jesus
hangs from a cross, dead.
The doves in the sky
look down in dismay:
‘why did the man, Jesus
have to die this way?’
====================
Doves looked left and right,
and saw such a sight:
All of Earth’s wildlife
Suffers a similar plight
Conibeared along a road
Family standing by,
Mother wolf wondering
Why did my puppy die?
Bobcat in a trap
Paw is burning hot
Sees a man, hopes for help
But no, help it’s not
Cougar in a tree
Ignores the barking pack
Knows her kittens welcome
When she gets them back
One death matters naught
but here we see a pattern
The self-described sapiens
are much less than slattern
