Having lived in Canada for a while and kept up with what goes on in that country, I get a little tired of hearing about how “enlightened” and wonderfully better it supposedly is than the United States. When it comes to the environment and animal protection, Canada Sucks! Even though every poll shows that a majority of Canadians are against the Atlantic seal hunt, every political party in that country from the liberals to the conservatives to the socialists to the PQers has staunchly supported the seal hunt against all efforts to abolish it. Liberal icon Pierre Trudeau steadfastly supported it during his time in office and publicly mocked those who found bashing in the heads of newborn seal pups incompatible with a civilized society. Socialist governments in British Columbia, all agog about worker’s rights and “progressivist” agendas, have repeatedly supported the clear-cutting of old growth forests and the expansion of wolf extermination and trophy grizzly bear hunting in that province. In Ontario they currently have a liberal, openly gay, woman Premier (a “three-fer” on the progressivist-humanist pyramid to Nirvana) whose government has recently legalized dove hunting and spring bear hunting in that province for the first time in living memory. And Canada’s immediately-past Governor-General, a leftist, Francophone, black, woman, Haitian-immigrant (or a “five-er”) ate raw warm seal heart for the cameras, smacked her lips, and once again defended the commercial seal hunt as being necessary to the survival of the Inuit when everyone knows it’s all about paying-out government subsidies and buying votes in eastern Canada from a bunch of illiterate, redneck, beer-swilling Newfies. Reagan may have given us “voodoo economics” but in Canada they had a genuine voodoo priestess preaching voodoo ecologics. At least we (the US) have an Endangered Species Act on the books, however tattered and beleaguered it may be nowadays. In Canada, efforts to enact a similar statute have been repeatedly blocked by the same western-based yahoos who believe in The Rapture, deny climate change and now call the shots in Ottawa.
Sociopaths — all of them!!! Sociopaths love positions of power – they seek it out and thrive on it. We animal rights activists as well as the animals are being overrun by sociopaths. If 1 in 25 people is a Sociopath (4% of the population) you would think we could overthrow them. Sadly Sociopaths hide in plain sight, well some anyway, the rest are in government.
Well when shit hits the fan, I hope I’m still alive so I can say, “Told you so.”
One reason sociopaths fair so well in politics is that greed and exploitation are often smiled on by society. And besides, people expect politicians to conning, conniving and full of b.s. anyway.
