They certainly will learn that humans can be cruel – I hope this kind of thing doesn’t desensitize them to cruelty. The children might wonder why the animals are kept in captivity, their freedome taken away to begin with. The human ability to rationalize away their bad behavior is truly frightening at times. I’m sick to death of hearing about the importance of a human’s ’emotional or educational experience’ at the expense of animals.
