Please sign this petition. The carnage going on in Wisconsin cannot be overstated. “Hounding” is going on 24 hours per day every day of the year. Hounds are legally trained using live captive coyotes, bobcats, fox, bear, raccoons & rabbits as bait. The hounds are used to hunt coyotes year round, to train on wolves year round until wolf hunting season when they are used to hunt wolves (the only state allowed to use dogs for wolf hunting.) They use hounds to train on bear beginning July 1st in the heat of the summer until bear hunting season when they are also used to hunt bear. The hunters will use their GPS collared dogs to tree the bear while they sit in their trucks, then will follow the GPS signal to shoot the treed or cornered bear. The hunters have released their hunting hounds into area known to be inhabited by wolves & then are compensated to the tune of $2500.00 per hound dog if they are killed by the wolves protecting their territory.( WI is the only state who compensates owners of hound dogs killed by wolves.) In 2013, 23 hound dogs were sent into established wolf territories & killed.This activity is sanctioned & promoted by the state of WI as sport…or better said blood sport. This massacre needs public awareness & the State of WI must be held accountable for what I believe to be cruel, barbaric actions under the guise of “wildlife management”.
