Apocalyptic scenes in Georgia as Lions, bears, wolves and a HIPPO are among dozens of animals to escape from zoo

More media “hype” about climate change or against zoos? NOT !

bears, lions, tigers, jaguars and wolves were among the animals that escaped.

“I can’t imagine this tragedy,” she said. “Almost the whole zoo is underwater.”

Torrential rains late Saturday and early Sunday poured down on Tbilisi, a hilly city that is along a river valley. The Tbilisi Zoo lies along the banks of the Vere River, which overflowed and caught the animals in their pens and cages.

    • Absolutely. Occupy for Animals was in Gaza after all the bombing. The pictures of the animals, often donkeys and horses, who were caught in that conflict were terrible. Animals don’t start wars but they are often the worst victims because their suffering is discounted. By the way, it looks as if horses are going to be involved in our war in the mountains of Afghanistan/Middle East. I was hoping the era of the war horses was over. Looks like the war zone may be fate of some of the horses rounded up by the BLM to satisfy the ranchers.

“Using horses for military purposes may also be an outlet for many wild horses kept in holding pens: most domestic horses have been bred to be too sensitive, but Mustangs have proven to be sturdier and more well rounded, as well as less expensive.”

I wish this would get more public attention.

  1. Yes, I was also thinking of how terrible it must be for captive zoo animals in war zones–which now encompass many areas of the world. Zoos are not educational, as they claim. They are merely for entertainment.

  2. How quaint! Patriarch IIia II announces the zoo animals and the city are being punished by God for the destruction of church bells by communists years ago! Strange that a supposedly all-just and all-merciful deity would punish innocent animals for the sins a “godless” government committed before they were even born. Seems that neither the Patriarch nor his God is even rational.

As for the zoo, it was probably another substandard prison for animals that never should have been built. There are too many of these torture chambers in countries that do not have the resources, knowledge, or motivation to care for the animals in any appropriate way.
