This program must be scrapped, along with the numerous other pieces of “reality trash” where humans are exploiting wild places and wild animals, such as various “Alaskan” programs now, and “Naked and Afraid” etc. I wonder how many stupid people realize these segments are filmed by a camera crew–in those wild places.
I just saw an ad for it not more than five minutes ago. Why???? Things have never been worse for wildlife. It ought to be a show about human attacks on wildlife, and how our activities are taking away their habitat through encroachment and climate change. They probably think generating a little controversy will create interest in the show. Cruel and unusual punishment for animals. Remember the horses that were seriously injured and died for the short-lived show “Lucky”. There’s no guarantee that animals will not suffer harm – and tv and movies have been some of the worst abusers in the past. The only controversy this should generate is protest petitions. I won’t go near this show with a ten-foot bullhook!
The Huffington Post had a blog post from a former actress or Hollywood insider who discussed her observations of animal cruelty in the industry and said something about several cats being used for a drowning scene until the director got it right, and one or more drowned. We don’t need things to be that real in film!!!!!!
” It ought to be a show about human attacks on wildlife, and how our activities are taking away their habitat through encroachment and climate change.” Yes, that’s what we need…
They already do that and make the animal into a monster or something that the ‘noble’ human can slay for their ego or to ‘teach those know-nothing shallow tree-hugging city folk that it’s how we tough more in-tune-with-the-Earth rural folk live out here’. Ugh. Hollywood…
I was thinking of something more like an expose’, where the animals are clearly the victims and the hunters are ignoble monsters…
