  1. People use deceptive language to avoid evoking the image of the real meaning. “Harvest” calls to mind fields of wheat or pumpkins or baskets of apples, not terror-stricken animals and bloody bodies (yes, “bodies,” not “carcasses”!).

    I call it Humpty-Dumpty-speak, meaning words mean whatever we want them to mean and facts are whatever we want them to be. There is a form of collusion between speaker and listener so people don’t have to hear anything unpleasant or disturbing. Thus we know this “harvest” will be done with rifles or bows and arrows and not combines, but we go along with it.
