Perhaps more than any other oppression, speciesism is least understood, recognized or acknowledged. The multi-dimensionality of its impact on every phase of our lives is hidden, distorted and/or denied.  As is demonstrated in the above painting, vegans, myself included, sometimes feel we must DRILL a point into someone’s skull to help them “get it,” IT, in this case, being an actual point, the tip of an arrow.  We want the person to “under-stand” or stand “under” the point. Many of us also surmise that the consumption of animal products (meat, dairy, eggs) physically dulls the mind and its ability to see and understand clearly. It’s not only a habit conditioned by parents, teachers, religious leaders, etc throughout our impressionable youth but also the actual fatty tissue that surrounds the arteries of the brain which impedes blood flow AND the capacity to think (see .above: “meat-dulled head” as…
