In many North Carolina counties, it’s legal to leave a dog tethered to a heavy chain 24 hours a day. It is also legal to leave a dog and inclement weather which can be deadly. It is also legal to leave your dog in a cage without ever getting out for his entire life!! There are few laws that protect animals from abuse in this state.
