PARKLAND, Fla. — The killing began with the squirrels. As a fourth-grader,
Nikolas Cruz would try to bloody them with his pellet gun. Then he started
going after chickens.
By the time Cruz was a teenager, he was sneaking into his neighbors’ yard
across the street and trying to get his dogs to kill their baby potbelly
pigs.
One resident watched him take long sticks to rabbit holes, ramming them down
as hard as possible to kill any creatures trapped inside.
Instagram posts and photographs, including one showing a gun’s laser sight
pointed at a neighborhood street. Another appeared to show a dead frog’s
bloodied body.

But no one – not those who feared him nor those who sympathized – glimpsed
the full malevolence brewing inside Cruz’s heart until Valentine’s Day, when
police say he walked into a suburban south Florida high school and carried
out one of the nation’s deadliest school shootings.

Brutalizing animals does show true malevolence……
This guy I truly believe has severe mental issues – he knows not what he does. That nobody got him the help he needed when all the red flags started to appear is the problem. Our little Johnny or Susie couldn’t be anything less than perfect, could they?
Little Johnny or Susie can sometimes be The Bad Seed. I really cannot believe that nobody did anything to keep this kid from hurting animals, and himself and others.
What the fuck is wrong with us? We can tolerate continuous gun violence by doing nothing, but jesus, we can become real assholes about anyone using profanity in a news article, or on TV. The m************ bleep or use asterisks when quoting someone, as if a f***ing word is more deadly than a large capacity magazine filled with cartridges and attached to a gun that doesn’t kill people held by an asshole who d**s. Oh well, when you’re from a shithole country that puts its ruler up in a “dump,” I gues* you have to be sens*tive about som*thing: not wildlife dying, not the ecosyst*m dying, not children dying, just some a**h*le making bleeps and asterisks necessary.
No shit.
It disturbs our exalted view of ourselves, that pesky reality.
Wow! Big surprise. They’re actually mentioning animal abuse now in discussing the killers’ backgrounds.
There was so much writing on the wall for this shooter that the wall fell down. See something, say something. Yeah, that worked.
