Less than one year after Yellowstone’s famed grizzly bears were stripped of Endangered Species Act protection, on Friday, the state of Wyoming started advocating to hunt grizzly bears beginning this fall. Under the regulations, the state will sell tags for 24 grizzlies in areas outside of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.
“Wyoming’s reckless hunt ignores the fact that grizzly bears remain endangered in Yellowstone and across the West,” Andrea Santarsiere, a senior attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity said in a statement. “It’s tragic that these imperiled animals will be shot and killed so trophy hunters can stick heads on their walls.”

I wish “them” all the worst karma EVER…
I thought the removal of the grizzlies’ ESA protection was first proposed under the Obama administration? If the Democrats don’t care enough about them, we can hardly expect the Republican Trump administration to protect them. There’s plenty of blame to go around with both parties. With the Democrats, it is more a naivete, time after time when an animal is delisted, a hunt begins immediately – which we saw when the wolves were delisted under a Democratic administration. How many times does this have to happen before people get it?:
“The delisting of the Yellowstone population comes more than a year after the Obama administration first proposed it, setting off an extensive review of the states’ management plans. More than 650,000 public comments on the issue were submitted to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, a volume that helped delay a decision that officials hoped to have made by the end of 2016.”
