Hunters killed the state quota of 44 wolves in Wyoming’s first wolf hunting season since endangered species protections were lifted last April.
In 2017, under management by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, a record number of 113 wolves were killed in the state to control the growing number of livestock predations.
Wyoming Game and Fish biologist Ken Mills said this year’s hunting season allowed 44 more wolves to be killed in the trophy game area in northwest Wyoming. Mills said many of those wolves were killed at the very beginning of the season, then hunting slowed down in November because of a lack of snow for tracking and picked up again in December.
He said there were no major problems with hunters following the rules.

I hope the report will include wolves poached (at least the ones who are caught), or killed by ‘unknown human causes’. I think that’s the name of the category. And some reports say livestock depredations are down, and others don’t. Which is it? At the next public meeting, I hope that killing wolves by explosives and deliberately run over (that’s according to the Sierra Club) is questioned and done away with. It really is beneath humanity to have an anything goes policy like Wyoming has. Why are they so violent?
I don’t think the numbers reported will ever reflect how many are actually killed. Just like the total population isn’t known.

Disgusting Serial Animal Killers.
There should be a hunting season to control public lands ranchers. They are out of control, not the wolves.
It is just appalling to me than anyone, of either political party, or government agency or so-called wildlife expert, could ever condone this kind of thing or rationalize killing an innocent creature for stubborn false beliefs of humans. Or to ask (demand) understanding and sympathy when these selfish people deprive others of having wolves on the landscape. 06’s killer doesn’t want to be thought of as just another (expletive) in a recent book, but that’s what he is. Understanding has been tried and failed miserably, because these people are dishonest as well as unfeeling and selfish, and do not ever intend to cooperate with the rest of the nation.
Sierra Club said that explosives and running over wolves with vehicles isn’t forbidden! That is way, way too much and Wy’s so-called hunting ‘management’ plan needs to expressly forbid this kind of wanton killing. It’s a g-d free-for-all.
