“Lemurs, foxes and tigers, oh my!”
That’s probably what the seniors of Christopher Columbus High School were saying when they saw animal handlers roll in a menagerie of animals into their jungle-themed prom.
The animal show on wheels included a fox, macaws, and lemurs, but the “honored” guest was a full grown tiger that was rolled out onto the dance floor in a tiny metal cage.
Some prom guests knew instinctively that this was not OK. One student, who took issue with the school’s idea of using animals as mere props for a high school dance, protested by saying, “My mom doesn’t appreciate that she spent $200 for prom and got this type of attraction.”
