Wyoming Opens Hunting For Grizzly Bears

  1. Well, I sure hope that their money is refundable in the event there is no hunting season. πŸ˜‰ I don’t see any difference in mindset from the time wolves and bears were deliberately driven to extinction and today.

  2. The court case is Aug 30, and hunting season opens Sept 1. When the judge on Aug 30 decides to relist the bears, I do hope any hunters out tromping in the woods get the message! That’s how it was done when wolves were first delisted under Obama – in the lag time between taking it to court, they held a hunting season and brought the wolf numbers down a few – wiping out wildlife in incremental steps is they way these vile people operate – and that’s hunters and F&W.

    • A judge can’t relist them at this point (not until or unless some are already killed off), but he/she could order a ‘stay of execution’ so to speak. As you said, it doesn’t leave any time for hunters planning their big killing trip to find out (which is likely part of Wyoming’s strategy to get some grizzlies killed and get ‘their foot in the door’ on the issue.

  3. In that article in the Missoulian about the upcoming trial, the judge did mention the words ‘injunction’ or ’emergency injunction’, and how he didn’t want to have to resort to that. We’ll see how that goes, I hope the hunters jumping the gun will be able to be reached by cell phone. πŸ˜‰

  4. This article really is suitable for framing:

“A federal district judge derailed a docket full of legal preliminaries about removing the grizzly bear from Endangered Species Act protection on Tuesday, in hopes of getting the whole matter decided before Wyoming and Idaho open grizzly hunting seasons this fall.

β€œI don’t think we always make our best decisions, our best briefs or our best arguments in the context of emergency injunctive relief motions,” U.S. District Judge Dana Christensen said in Missoula. β€œIt’s not efficient to deal with issues of this importance in the context of restraining orders.””
