LENOX — It sure looks like Apocalypse Now — video footage online and on TV of massive wildfires threatening Yosemite National Park and numerous towns in California, historic flooding in central and eastern Pennsylvania, heat records fried by all-time highs in the Southwest, Quebec, Japan, Greece, even north of the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg, probably a bad choice of words, considering the plight of 169 beleaguered residents on the isolated island of Innaarsuit in western Greenland, a fishing community threatened by a potential tsunami from an 11 million-ton iceberg lurking just offshore.

  1. I think the wildfires have been mostly the result of arsonists? With the dry conditions, the winds, and loss of life and property – I do hope these unique to the human species nutjobs are held to account.
