ANCHORAGE, Alaska – A father and son skied to a remote bear den on an Alaska island, shot a mother bear in front of her two cubs and then one of them turned his rifle on the shrieking newborns, killing them, authorities said Wednesday.
The men didn’t know that the black bears were part of an observation program and the slaughter was caught on video by a motion-activated camera outside the den.
Andrew Renner, 41, and son Owen Renner, 18, have been charged with multiple counts, including the illegal killing of a bear and both cubs in the April incident. Under state law, it’s illegal to kill black bear cubs or sows with cubs in most of Alaska, including where the shooting occurred.
Online court records don’t list attorneys for the men from Palmer, a city near Anchorage, and a message left…

Exposing the Big Game 
It’s hard to believe that there are people like this out there. Well, at least they were ‘trapped’ in the most elegant of fashions. It must have been hard for authorities not to smile as they were being lied to. 😦
How and where do such degenerates arise? Who goes out to intentionally kill a mother bear in her den and then shoots her terrified cubs? If there were any justice in the world, such perverted life-forms would be skinned alive. And under the Trump Administration’s proposed changes such practices in Alaska may not even be illegal for much longer. I’m afraid it becomes more obvious each day that the “bad guys” are winning almost everywhere. Animal rights activists now know these individuals names and presumably can determine where they live and work. If these maggots (apologies to the real ones!) are still breathing free air in a year’s time it will be mute testimony to the utter impotence of the animal rights movement to halt or even to slow the coming cataclysm. At that point it might be better to strap-on a suicide vest and head for the nearest NRA meeting than to suffer a “death by a thousand cuts” watching the Earth’s precious wildlife being annihilated.
Another tragic thing is that lawmakers and even the public at large does not want to admit that there are people like this out there. People like to think they are ethical, law-abiding and benevolent creatures, and this kind of thing is rare. I really hope that the proposed laws that actually allow (and encourage) killing wildlife mothers and their young in their dens is challenged and reversed! It is not fair chase, it is unethical and is beneath humanity to allow it. This poor excuse for a human father teaching his kid not to respect life like this is terrible. I’m just so happy everything they did and said was caught on video to ensnare them.
What kind of people want to insist upon ‘their right’ to do something like this? Alaska is shameful.
The one thing we can still do is comment to the Dept. of the Interior that AK state laws (like killing bears in their dens) should not apply to animals on our Federal National Monuments there!
And I have to add – these people are not too bright (how these fools were caught was just brilliant), with unevolved lowlife brains not capable of empathy. In today’s world, where people are let off the hook for anything and everything they do, nobody better dare encourage anyone to have sympathy or any consideration whatsoever for scum like this. These are no fellow man of mine.
