This time of year you’re sure to hear that hunting brings in outside dollars to rural communities (never mind that they’re mostly spent on beer, whiskey, ammo, gas and cigarettes). On the other hand it often ends up costing a great deal, in the form of aid car trips and prosecution fees when someone (besides a doe or some other “non-target” animal) inevitably gets shot in a case of mistaken identity.

Such may have been the case in the October 23rd shooting up Little Bridge Creek, which sent a hunter to the hospital with a bullet wound through the neck. The shooter apparently told investigators he ‘thought it was a cougar.’
