In a news release from the Sheriff’s Office, the person injured was identified as Mitchel Macik, 22, of rural Hector, who had been with a group of small game hunters. He was struck in the leg by a small-caliber rifle, and the injury was considered non-life threatening. He had been taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.

The accident reportedly occurred in the 8900 block of 53rd Street Southeast, about a mile south of Lake Wakanda in Fahlun Township southeast of Willmar.

The accident is under investigation, according to the news release.
