Arecently published study has found that “[c]limate change and human activity are dooming species at an unprecedented rate.”
The study, “Co-extinctions annihilate planetary life during extreme environmental change,” published in the journal Scientific Reports, was a joint effort by Australian and Italian researchers from Flinders University in Adelaide and the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, respectively.
To conduct the study, the researchers created 2,000 “virtual Earths.” They then added in different stressors such as abrupt climate change replicating that which we are now experiencing, a nuclear winter following the detonation of multiple nuclear weapons, and a massive impact from an asteroid.

I’ve been thinking a lot about California lately. Our modern world doesn’t value that (or any) state’s unique beauty, just concerned with money, and shallow and superficial things.
The tiny sliver of what’s left of the ancient redwoods, been here since the beginning of time almost, could go due to the continued threats of logging, and warming temperatures. And of course overpopulation and encroachment. How these trees are adapted to their environment is unique – and I had been reading where these rainforests are getting drier due to warming, and all who depend on them are threatened too. But that’s humans – search and destroy!
I think it was already posted here that China has lifted its ban on rhino horn and tiger bone, in the name of ‘scientific research’ and traditional medicines:
And just look at that poor tiger cub being tortured for a selfie!
