The fourth generation of deer hunters in the Strayer family officially has announced its arrival.
Complete with a Remington camouflage hunting hat, a full complement of RedHead hunting gear in camo pattern, Muck boots like her grandpa wears, and a pint-sized TenPoint crossbow trimmed in pink camo, 6-year-old Oliviah Downard fired the shot heard ‘round the family tree on the day before Thanksgiving when she released the first arrow of her hunting career and took down a six-point white-tailed buck.
“She did everything by the book, and it was really something to see,” said Oliviah’s grandfather, Ted Strayer, who was with her in the ground blind at a farm near Northwood as dawn broke Wednesday morning. “We’ve been taking her out in the woods since she was about 3, so she understands hunting, but it was amazing to see how she handled it all…
