A Nicktown man was killed in an ATV accident Saturday during an attempt to retrieve a deer he had killed.

Justin E. Lieb, 56, harvested a deer in the early morning hours and returned to his residence to get the ATV to remove the animal from the woods around 10:30 a.m., said Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees.

When Lieb did not return home by dark, family members called 911, and a search unit located him in a wooded area about 200 yards off of Double Dam Road in Susquehanna Township, Lees said.

According to Lees, Lieb was driving the ATV up a steep incline when it overturned on him.

Lieb was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:04 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Brian Moriconi.

Lieb’s cause of death was ruled as blunt force trauma and his manner of death was accidental, Lees said.
