An 11-year-old boy was killed Sunday in a hunting accident in Dallas County.
Authorities are not publicly releasing the boy’s name but said he was found dead about 5 p.m. in a shooting house in Orville.
Dallas County Coroner Alan Dailey said the boy, who is from Tuscaloosa County, was in Orville with his older sister and other family friends on a parcel of land the family leases for hunting. The group split up and the boy got into a ground-level shooting house alone about 2 p.m.
As it began to get dark, the older sister went to look for him. “They called out to him and he didn’t answer,’’ Dailey said. She went into the shooting house and found her brother unresponsive.
