I’m sorry, but even if I tried I couldn’t possibly relate to what might motivate American trophy hunter Bryan Harlan to fly to Pakistan and spend $110,000.00 to kill a rare goat and pose with its sad, lifeless carcass. He certainly didn’t do anything to earn himself a reputation as a sane, selfless conservationist, if that’s what he was hoping for. More likely, he was just out to boost his flagging ego.
In that regard, his actions were not unlike that of the average sport hunter, blasting deer for bragging rights.
As a wildlife photographer I guess I can sorta see why he’d want to “capture” such a unique, rare being in its natural habitat. However, while I go out of my way to avoid disturbing a prospective subject for a “shot,” a hunters’ objective is to disturb animals—to death.
