Five young wildlife activists held a march in Hailey on Saturday to protest the Idaho Department of Fish and Game’s proposed changes to wolf-trapping rules. The department proposes to initiate a trapping season on private land in 11 big-game units in the Magic Valley Region, including those that surround the Wood River Valley. It also proposes to open the trapping season earlier in Unit 45, south and west of Fairfield, where trapping on public land is already permitted. The girls marched to the Old Blaine County Courthouse. “I feel really proud,” Eva said. “It’s not the turnout we were hoping for, but I don’t really care. We’re showing that we care [about wolves].”
