DETROIT, MI — A rare lynx that was captured in Michigan’s Thumb and taken to a nature center earlier this month before ultimately being transported to the Detroit Zoo for further evaluation has been treated for a leg-trap wound and fleas.

Patricia Mills Janeway, communications director for the Detroit Zoological Society, provided an update on the cat’s condition Wednesday, March 27.

Janeway said the female lynx is about 4 feet long, weighs about 18 pounds and is estimated to be less than a year old.
