  1. How appropriate for an article posted on April Fool’s Day. The American taxpayer is again the fool, paying for the damage wreaked by hunting interests; you know: the true conservationists who are expert at controlling populations of widely-distributed, slow-reproducing carnivores that live in depleted habitats and struggling to survive, while introducing invasive species for the fun of the hunt. Hunters in Florida have posted complaints about endangered Florida panthers because the big cats eat piglets, and might harm hunting activity. Taxpayers pay government to hunt the pigs, for bounties, compensation to farmers, higher prices at the grocery stores, loss of economic activity such as corn exports, and on & on. Of course, hunters being such knowledgeable people regarding species, will use bait to attract the pigs, “fair chase,” which increases the pigs’ fitness, so they have more piglets. What a great prank to provide blood sport for the only people who truly understand wildlife and how the real world works.
