Black bear hunting will be allowed in SE Okla. this fall under rules approved on Monday by the Okla. Wildlife Conservation Commission. Since 2009, black bear hunting has been legal in only four SE counties. And now, black bear hunting will be allowed during archeryand muzzleloader seasons in all areas south of Interstate 40 and east of US 69. The bag limit will remain the same. However, the legal areas where the bears can be hunted has now more than doubled in size. The SE region wildlife supervisor for the Wildlife Dept. said last year when the new regulations were first proposed thatthe Okla. black bear population was growing and could support more hunting.
