CONCORD — A state representative who proudly posted a gruesome photo of a squirrel he blasted to pieces in his backyard has been removed from the House Fish and Game Committee by Speaker Steve Shurtleff, D-Concord.

Rep. Jim Spillane, R-Deerfield, was replying to a Twitter thread advocating veganism in late May when he posted a photo of the gutted rodent, with the caption: “I shot a squirrel on my bird feeder today with a .50 caliber muzzleloader. Enjoy.”

Twitter immediately exploded with outrage that caught the attention of Fish and Game officers, who paid Spillane a visit last week and issued a warning, as reported in Thursday’s New Hampshire Union Leader.

  1. Well, good for Representative “Spillblood” Spillane for his in-your-face fuck-you animal-lovers tweet. Another hunter that believes in conservation and not wasting meat (squirrel stew is a real thing). And being a true hunter, his only weapon is a 1/2″ projectile musket. We need more buttheads like Spillblood to help spread the word why hunters are disgusting pieces of crap who use whatever excuse to kill and then to offend. Taking a photo of a squirrel as a trophy to represent his dick-size is pathetic!
