You don’t hear all that much about 104-year-olds, perhaps since they’re usually squirreled away in some nursing home by then ‘for their own protection’ by then. Or perhaps because the average human life expectancy is 79.3 in the U.S. (both sexes combined), while in Sierra Leone it’s still only 50.1—the longest-lived people in the world these days, the Japanese, live an average of 83.7. one, but two century+4-year-olds while leafing through the news today.
