An Inkster man accidentally shot himself in the face while hunting on Wednesday, Oct. 2, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said.

The 63-year-old man was hunting raccoons near Sharon Valey Road in Norvell Township when he accidentally shot himself with a .22 caliber rifle, police said

The man was able to walk to a nearby residence to get help.

The incident is under investigation.
