The search for a South Dakota hunter continues after the 66-year-old male went missing Tuesday in the Black Hills near Deerfield Lake.
According to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Larry Genzlinger, of Howard, was elk hunting with his nephew near Six Mile Road and Ditch Creek Road around 2 p.m. when the hunter went missing.
According to Helene Duhamel, public information officer with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Genzlinger’s nephew contacted authorities roughly five hours later at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after Genzlinger didn’t arrive to the area he was to meet his nephew.
The Pennington County Search and Rescue and several other agencies worked through the night until 4 a.m. Wednesday. The search resumed at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, but fog and rain have not allowed for aerial support in this search, according to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.
