BOSTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 29-year-old Saranac man accidentally shot his brother while deer hunting in Ionia County on Saturday.
Officials with the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 at about 5:30 p.m. in a field near the intersection of Bell Road and West Grand River Avenue.
The two men were looking for a deer that one brother had shot earlier with a muzzle loading rifle, police said. As they searched, the two separated in the dense corn.
The Saranac man told police that he believed he saw the deer moving and heard the deer making noises and fired again, which actually struck his brother, a 28-year-old Lowell man, police said.
The suspect who shot his brother immediately called 911, and police said the injured brother was flown to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital. He was in serious…
