A 53-year-old Ellwood City man was injured when he was accidentally shot while hunting with his son on Saturday morning in Venango County, state police reported.

The man and his son were hunting in Rockland Township shortly before 11:30 a.m.

The boy was walking uphill when he fell and his rifle discharged, striking his father in the hip, police reported.

The man was taken to UPMC Northwest for treatment.
