National Archery in the Schools and other outdoor education in Okla. schools continue to grow.  However will they be successful in creating future generationsof hunters and anglers?  Archery in the Schools began in less than a dozen schools in 2005.  There are now 642 public and private schools in the state teaching archery thru the nationalprogram administered by the Okla. Dept. of Wildlife Conservation and there is now a waiting list every year of more schools wanting to join.  Since the students use a Genesis-bow that can allow up to 40 lbs of draw weight for more velocity on the shots, it is the hope that the kids transition over toa hunting-style bow that could be used in competitions after high school.  Since Archery in the Schools has begun, the Wildlife Dept. has added an entire outdoor-related curriculum in public and private schools.  This includescourses on bowhunting, bowfishing, fishing…
