Tenn. wildlife commission votes down nighttime coyote hunting

A tie vote led to the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission (TFWC) rejecting a proposal to allow nighttime hunting for coyotes in Tennessee. The most recent TFWC meeting set hunting seasons and regulations for the next two years.

There are 13 members of the TFWC, however Commissioner Jim Stroud was absent from the meeting, leading to a six-to-six tie vote on the measure. A majority vote is required so the measure failed by a mere one vote margin. It is unclear how Commissioner Stroud may have voted had he been present.
