PORTLAND, Ore. —Tillamook County authorities said a 70-year-old man is home safe after he was separated from his hunting party along the Oregon coast and spent the night in the woods.
The man, a Hillsboro resident, was hunting in the Neskowin area with friends on Thanksgiving day when he separated from the group around 3 p.m. in the afternoon. When he didn’t rejoin them, his group became concerned. They reported him as missing after the sun went down and they had not heard from him over the radio.
Sheriff’s deputies and search and rescue volunteers searched the area until the middle of the night before calling off the search until the next morning. At 7 a.m. Friday, they set out again.
Searchers were able to contact the missing hunter over radio Friday, and from there, rescuers found him…
