BIG POOL — A Clear Spring hunter involved in an ATV crash east of Fort Frederick State Park died Saturday, a Maryland Natural Resources Police spokeswoman said.

Emergency services got a call at 6:52 p.m. Saturday for a hunter involved in an ATV crash in the area of the 10900 block of Garrison Hollow Road, a Washington County 911 spokeswoman said.

Donavan Branch, 89, told his wife he was going out to hunt and would be back at a certain time, police spokeswoman Lauren Moses said Monday. When he didn’t return by that time, his wife went looking and found him.

Natural Resources Police found Branch pinned under his ATV on private property, according to Moses.

The investigation was continuing, she said.

  1. It’s obvious the missus was unhappy about him staying out late. “. . . told his wife he was going out to hunt and would be back at a certain time. When he didn’t return by that time, his wife went looking and found him.” Apparently they argued, and she decided she had had enough. Then, later, Natural Resources Police found Branch pinned under his ATV.
