Members of the Kansas Wildlife, Parks and Tourism Commission spent much of their monthly meeting Jan. 14 discussing an influx of out-of-state hunters in public waterfowl hunting areas in Kansas.

The discussionbegan with public comment from Nicholas Boehm, from the Kansas City area, who expressed concerns about out-of-state residents flooding into the state. Other public commenters later echoed his comments.

“This year in particular, myself and friends who hunt public lands for waterfowl across the state have noticed a great increase in hunting pressure on public areas, a lot of it coming from out-of-state hunters based on, of course anecdotally, license plates and just conversations at boat ramps,” Boehm said. “I feel, at least, the volume of hunters, especially nonresidents during the week, has reduced the hunting quality substantially.”https://a051e3c31d7f99d215802bf078510359.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-37/html/container.html
