BUCKHANNON, W.Va.— A ten year quest for an Upshur County hunter ended this month in spectacular fashion. On March 1st, on the side of a volcano in Hawaii, Tanner Burns of Buckhannnon pulled the trigger on a wild turkey which completed hisquest to kill a turkey in every state, often called the U.S. Super Slam.

It’s heartwarming articles like this one that shows how hunters really are the true conservationists. Here we learn of a conservationist who traveled extensively to bring species conservation to every state in the union. This guy is not a trophy hunter out to set some trivial killing record, he’s saving an entire species. And the cost of his travel, licenses, and tags are a huge contribution to conservation! Hunters spend more on conservation than anyone, you know? This guy is a pack leader.
