AUGUSTA (WGME) — Hunting could soon be allowed seven days a week in Maine if a group of lawmakers gets their way.

Members of the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee met virtually to discuss legislation that would allow hunting on Sundays.

Proponents of the bill say the added day will have a positive impact on the state’s economy.

While critics say Sunday is a day landowners can get outside without concerns about hunters.

“Many local businesses such as restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores, hunting supply establishments just to name a few would become more prosperous as a result,” said Rep. David McCrea, (D) – Fort Fairfield.
