With a few exceptions that include groundhog dispatchers, coyote snuffers and feral hog terminators, hunters generally havelight duty during summer.
Yet the start of Ohio’s 2021-22 hunting seasonwill arrive in not-so-distant September. That meansthismight be a good time to plan ahead for the coming months.
A deadline is approachingJuly 31, whichis thelast day to enterthe lottery for slots inthe Ohio Division of Wildlife’s numerous controlled hunts. The hunts involving deer generally receive quite a bit of attention, although controlled hunts are also offered for waterfowl, doves, squirrels and other small game.
More thana few of the hunts are held at public locations in central Ohio or in areas that are easily reached from Columbus.
