A 13-year-old boy was recently arrested for animal cruelty after forcefully killing a cat.

On Tuesday, July 13, around 7:00 p.m., a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to help Marion County Animal Control in reference to the death of a domesticated cat. Upon arrival, animal control officers said they were investigating allegations that 13-year-old James Basener had severely injured and ultimately killed a neighbor’s cat.
