Deer Harvest down, two firearm-involved hunting accidents in Door County

The deer kill numbers for the 2021 Deer Hunt are lower so far and Door County had two of the reported three gun-related accidents in the state. The overall harvest of deer was down 14 percent statewide as the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources released the numbers from the opening weekend of gun deerhunting.

In Door County, a total of 1106 were harvested with 607 of those being antlered and 499 antlerless. Kewaunee County had 806 deer registered with 376 bucks and 430antlerless. As of midnight Sunday, sales of gun deer licenses were at 551,809. The year-to-date sales for deer licenses are down 1.5 % from last year at this time.
