DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa hunters will be able to use semi-automatic weapons including AR-15 rifles to kill deer in more parts of the state during a newly created antlerless season in January under a bill signed by Gov. Kim Reynolds.

Iowa lawmakers passed the bill in May and it was signed by Reynolds on Friday.

Advocates including Republican Sen. Ken Rozenboom, an Oskaloosa farmer, said the new law is designed to help control the deer population and respond to complaints that excess deer eat corn and are hazardous to motorists.

  1. I could not honestly believe this when I had read about this. Insensible fool! Motorists are the only thing hazardous to other motorists, especially drunk ones. I think humanity is heading in the wrong direction (not that we have ever been in the right place), between the war in Ukraine and wiping out animals en masse. She should be taken to court and prosecuted for inhumane treatment and animal cruelty!

  2. This ought to turn out very interestingly though – they’ll have no deer left and the hunters will whine and say, well duhhhhhh, we have no deer left! Can’t blame the wolves though because they don’t have any left. Maybe they can make up a sighting?
