Watch: Little Boy Reunites with a Beautiful Cow Saved from Slaughter

This was such a show of empathy and compassion.

At the end of November, a small farm out of Arizona shared a truly touching video of a very special reunion between a little boy and a cow

The video explains that the cow below was once their favorite cow, but after it went to live with their neighbor the neighbor decided to send it to slaughter before the original owners rescued him.

In a previous video the Farm of Milk and Honey explained that after their neighbor purchased the cow from them a few months later he decided to stop farming and offered to sell the farm back their cow, for a huge amount of money. When the previous owners refused the cow went to auction and they waited online for two days to be able to bid on her to bring her home all so that their son could have his favorite cow returned to him.

Why Animals are so Important for Kids

Growing up with animals teaches young kids so many invaluable lessons. It teaches kids empathy, compassion, responsibility and studies have shown that it can reduce stress and improve self-esteem. According to a report from the Pet Health Council, kids with pets have higher self-esteem and confidence because they talk to, or confide in, the animal in ways that they would not do with people. Studies have also shown that kids with pets helps with stress relief and  “Having a pet to interact with helps children with stress management,” explains Mayra Mendez, licensed psychotherapist and program coordinator at the Providence Saint John’s Child and Family Development Center in Santa Monica, California, “[because] play with a pet releases tension.” It also encourages children to be active. Dogs need to be walked, cats enjoy being played with, and walking to a barn to visit a favorite cow gets a kid out into the fresh air and sunshine. This is just a win for both animals and kids.

Another person commented, “Thank you for saving her! Cows are some of the sweetest, most docile, and maternal beings. Your son is so lucky to experience this! I wish more did!” We couldn’t agree more. This is something that this child will likely remember forever.

We are so happy this little boy is back together with how cow bestie again and we hope they have the best time growing up with each other.
