KLAMATH CO., Ore. (KPTV) – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is asking for information about the deaths of three endangered gray wolves east of Bly in southern Oregon.

The deaths happened in an area known for wolf activity, according to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW), that stretches across Klamath and Lake counties.

Authorities are offering a $50,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest, a criminal conviction, or civil penalty assessment.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife was tipped off to the wolves’ deaths on Dec. 29, 2023, when the collars of two gray wolves showed a mortality signal. Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division troopers and an ODFW biologist responded to the signals and found two dead, collared wolves and one dead wolf without a collar.

The collared wolves were an adult, breeding female known as OR115 and a subadult known as OR142 from the Gearhart Mountain Pack. The other wolf was also a subadult.

Gray wolves are listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act in the western two-thirds of Oregon. An investigation into their deaths is being led by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in cooperation with the Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Anyone with information about this case should call the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at (503) 682-6131, or the Oregon State Police Dispatch at (800) 452-7888, *OSP (*677) or email TIP@osp.oregon.gov. Callers may remain anonymous.
