  1. Hunter mythology kills one species to protect another. This hunter mythology predates regulated hunting. Aldo Leopold shot a wolf, thinking if there were fewer wolves and then more deer to kill. As Supervisor of Carson National Forest he watched the green light leave the wolf’s eyes and later decided that a few wolves belonged on the mountain. Aldo saw 300 wolves killed while a forest director in the southwest. Any excuse for killing will do. But they really like killing predators, especially wolves. Scapegoating wolves is usually at the top of the hunting mythology list. The basic core hunter mythology is fewer predators and more recreational killing targets for us. Besides, it is fun to kill the predators anyway.
